Who needs batting practice? Izumo Subaru of Chicago (N) apparently doesn't as he battered Cincinnati with a 5-hit outburst in today's game to lead his club to a 10-9 win.
He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 6 day... will my name be in the record books now?"

Michael Knight came into the today's game against Chicago (N) rolling along with a 24-game hitting string, but he left it on the field at PNC Park. The 27-year-old Pittsburgh catcher went 0-for-3 against the Cubs as the Pirates were beaten 12-3.
Knight has collected 72 hits for the Pirates this year, 5 of them home runs. He has also netted 28 RBIs and scored 36 runs while batting .323.
