John Newcomer is respected by most St. Louis Cardinals fans for his no-frills style of play. The 23-year-old second baseman went about his business with vigor last week to grab the National Player of the Week honors.
He compiled a .458 average (11-24) with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
So far this season Newcomer is hitting .324 with 6 home runs. |

One of the league's most exciting young players, Richard Ang of the Minnesota Twins earned himself American Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.
For the week the 24-year-old right fielder had a lofty .481 average (13-27), collecting 2 home runs, 8 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
So far in 2025 Ang is batting .320 with 11 home runs, 59 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 79 hits in 247 at-bats and a .395 OBP. |
 | Sunday, June 15th, 2025: Lecroy, Johnston Swap Clubs
The Baltimore Orioles announced a deal with the Athletics today, sending 22-year old minor league right fielder Rich Lecroy to Oakland for 22-year old minor league first baseman Kevin Johnston. It had been talked about for the past few weeks and everything came together late last night. All players are expected to be joining their respective clubs shortly.
